Going Biometric at Madison Square Garden

MSG Arena innovation

New York Knicks and NHL franchise the New York Rangers fans will be able to enter Madison Square Garden, using their finger prints.

Clear who are supplying the service say it will be will be available both sports fixtures, concerts and special events in the arena. Entertainment fans who sign up to Clear will benefit from speedy entrance via a dedicated biometric security lane as well as access to Yankee Stadium and Citi Field, JFK, LGA and HPN airports.

Redstone's Strategy Director Mark Alexander said “ Sports infrastructure investments will see more and more of this. As sports venues start to look more and more like airports from a security, people flow and experience perspective. Look at Football stadia where you have up to 100,000 people coming through the turnstile half coming 15 minutes before kick off. Finding ways to make that entry smooth and safe is a winner.”

“Launching at MSG represents a major milestone for Clear,” said Clear chief executive Caryn Seidman Becker. “By adding The Garden to our growing New York City ecosystem, Clear members can now enjoy frictionless experiences at three iconic sports and entertainment venues and three key local-area airports with one biometric ID.”

This deal follows Clear's Major League Baseball last year, which introduced biometric ticketing at all participating ballparks.
